This quarter started with celebrating 50 years of Deep Griha’s work in under-resourced communities. The team worked very hard on the preparations for the big day. All the planning and hard work paid off, the event on the 5th of July went off very smoothly. We had a whole lot of people join us virtually from across the world.

This Quarter takes the children to the end of their academic year followed by their summer break and then the beginning of the new academic year. A workshop for parents saw active participation from 110 parents and carers across the 3 centers. The aim of the workshop was to strengthen the role of caregivers in supporting their child’s academic, emotional, and behavioral development. It addressed common adolescent challenges and introduced simple yet practical tools that parents could use at home.

The Quarter started with a picnic to Thorat Agro Tourism, 170 children with 8 team members and volunteers from other programs to help look after the children. The children had been keen on a picnic for a while and they were very excited when this activity came together. The ‘rain dance’ and swimming pool were the favorites for sure, other activities included a play area, a magic show, and of course lunch. The children and the young adults had a lot of fun, with feedback like ‘most memorable day of my life’ for some. We intend to bring regular picnics back for the children.
